Jacob Getz currently lives and works in New York City. At an early age Jacob was fascinated with light and form, which led to his lifelong passion as a photographer, fusing the technical with the visual.
Under the tutelage of world-renowned fine art photographer Jerry Ulseman, Jacob refined his artistic process, working with prominent photographers Francesco Scavullo, Hashi, Barbara Bordnick and Rebecca Blake just to name a few. His work has been showcased in numerous international publications including Harper’s Bazaar, Vanity Fair, W, New York Magazine and Vogue.
Inspired by every form of life, his images draw upon the human experience and capture intimate moments in the passing of time. Executed with great attention to detail, Jacob’s powerful and carefully composed portraits, landscapes, and still-life’s create distinctive and atmospheric scenes that reveal the fragility of a world where people and objects can evoke an endless array of emotions.
Artist’s statement about the exhibit: What is art? This is one of the most ambiguous questions one could ask or define. For me it is the emotional response or experience one feels when viewing an art piece. Whether it is a positive or negative feeling the goal is to illicit thought and discovery within one’s self. As an artist, I want my photos to exhibit how I see the world though my eyes and interpretation of my emotions at that moment of time. I want the viewer to have their own interpretation but also have a window into my world as seen through my eyes.
